STUDENT SUPPORT AND WELFARE ACTIVITIES

Student support services helps college students for to achieve their educational and developmental potential by providing a range of strategies and specialised support at the individual, group, and college levels.

1.      National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced at LMC College of Social Work since 1998 as a part of the academic programs and since then NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our College education. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community as well as Nation is the activity through which the objective is sought to be achieved. It is a student-cantered program in which various activities are implemented by the NSS volunteers in the community in close collaboration with the community and thereby it provides vast scope for the student's interaction with the people. The Institute has an NSS unit for 120 students. The NSS unit of the Institute regularly undertakes innovative activities with students.

2. Career Guidance and Placement Cell for Students:

The college runs career guidance and placement cell for social work students. It functions under the faculty adviser. The office of the placement cell organizes various activities with the active involvement of students. The activities include pre-placement talks, career guidance, pre-placement preparation, campus interviews, etc. The placement brochure giving the details of curricular activities and students of second year is published and sent to prospective employer every year.

3. Competitive Exam Cell.

LMC College of Social Work runs Competitive Exam Cell for UG and PG Students in the campus. Main objective of CEC is to create awareness among the youth of college particularly from the deprived sections, about aims and objectives, procedures and relative advantages of various competitive examinations particularly Civil Services Examinations. Cell organise various lecture, workshop for student, which helps them for preparation of various competitive exam.

4. Earn and Learn Scheme

Earn and Learn Scheme of the North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon is implemented by the college. The main objective of the scheme is to develop a student as a multifaceted personality with academic excellence and a commitment to an egalitarian society. India lives in her villages and to bridge the gap between rural Bharat and urban India, this scheme is basically undertaken for the benefit of students coming from rural areas, who are economically backward, intelligent, and meritorious but cannot afford higher education, needy and financially hard pressed. It inculcates in the student the idea that no work is big or small and develops a work culture with the right aptitude. This is a vision of keeping our youth gainfully employed as well as to contribute to civil society.

5. Scholarships

LMC College of Social Work has been implementing various scholarships and fellowships for students. Under the various schemes of central and state governments, scholarships are given to students belonging to the weaker sections, especially SCs, STs, OBCs, Minorities, etc.  Besides these, there are six awards and fellowships instituted for the meritorious students.

3.      Former Principal of the college Dr. Sambhaji Desai awards the prize to students who come II in BSW-III and MSW-II respectively.

4.       In the memory of Pralhad Janaji Rade -Sports player award for University level player By Prof. Yogesh Pralhad Mahajan

5.      In the memory of Ramkrushna Hari Mahajn -Sports player award for University level player By Mr. Dhananjay Ramkrushna Mahajan.

7. Disaster Management Committee:

LMC College of social work have established College level committee for Disaster Management. The function of this committee is to provide guidance about disaster management and provide help to the society if needed. Our college student work with government agencies in disaster situation as a volunteer. College organise workshop and also sent student to participate in disaster management workshop at different places in the state, e.g. Sahas Workshop (University Level Disaster Management Workshop).

8. Value added Courses:

The LMC College of Social Work, offers short term value added courses related to the fields of social work.  College provide following value added courses.

1)      Certificate course in NGO management

2)      Certificate course in Human Resource Management

3)      Certificate Course in Child Counselling

9. Institute Day

The Institute celebrates its annual day every year in the month of June. Students and faculty members actively get involved in organizing the event.

10. Sports Activities

Facilities for indoor and outdoor games are available to the students in the campus. According to need and Situation College provide extra assistance to the needy student.

11. Special lecture/Workshop/Seminar

LMC College of social work organises various workshop/seminar/lecture for the overall development of student through CGPC Cell and Competitive Exam Cell. The college arranges interactive sessions with the experts, field practitioners and scholars from various areas. This activity helps to expose the students to contemporary social issues, innovative methods of working and various intervention strategies. It also motivates them to work for the development of society and get prepared for various competitive exams.
